Vientiane is a city on the banks of the Mekong River, being the largest settlement in Laos and its capital. Today, Vientiane is fully consistent with the title of the capital of Laos, showing a model of national culture, crafts and traditions. The city is literally buried in verdure. Among the buildings is dominated by low houses in the traditional Asian style, and numerous Buddhist temples, domes are bathed in bright sunshine.

The fate of Laotians and Vietnamese, who are not closely related ethnically, brought together the French colonial regime. Since then, he has ceased to exist (and 30 years later disappeared and Soviet influence), Laos is increasingly drawn into the sphere of influence in Thailand, his real brother by blood.
